Theme Project

In recent years, young people have often felt confused about future development and the way forward, and have been unable to fully realize their potential. Such a social environment often makes teenagers become negative, even have emotional problems, and feel hopeless about the future.  Lions Club of Central hopes that through various activities, it will not only bring new knowledge to young people, but also provide them with an opportunity to display their talents, balance their lives, and better adapt to different environments and face challenges. In addition, adolescents need to connect with others and gain approval from others. Therefore, in the “Flying Youth” series of activities, we provide opportunities to interact with others, learn to connect and develop their own strengths.

Co-organized with Cordis Hotel again, we arranged a commendable buffet celebrating Christmas for 80 Ebenezer New Hope School students, teachers and their families. Due to their physical conditions, these students usually find it difficult to have buffets at a regular restaurant, therefore arranging the buffet in a five-star hotel makes this event especially memorable for them.

Lions Club of Central hosted elderly party for 120 elders in Ta Ku Ling Kei Lok Community Association. In addition to Chinese Poon Choi , Hong Kong Police Force provided anti-deception talk and entertaining performances, all guests had also received gift bags stuffed with goodies and full of our blessings.

We together with the Leo Club of the Central II had supported Lions Club Ho Tak Sum Primary School, Open Day “Your Future Dream High”, and set up a very interesting game booth “Looking for Smiles in the Mirror”, which was very exciting. The booth was popular with parents and children, and finally won the “Most Creative Booth Design Award”.

Lions Club of Central associated with the Wong Tai Sin Home Affairs Department and the Wong Tai Sin Youth Development Network, jointly organized activities to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. There were 40 young volunteers to serve about 100 elders from Lok Fu Estate and Lung Cheung Center of the Kowloon City Baptist Neighborhood Elderly Centre. They all learned to draw ink paintings together.  Thank you to Wong Tai Sin District Officer, Mr. Thomas Wu, JP for coming to support the event.

We supported Family Health Forum in the past few years providing health information and free health screening services to athletes with intellectual disabilities and parents and encourage them to do more fitness exercise.

In August 2023, we co-organised with Chong Lap (H.K.) Co Ltd to provide an activity to the Special Olympics Family Support Network. We hope to help athletes improve coordination, language and social skills, increase self-confidence, reduce stress and anxiety through family-friendly day trips.

Charity concert aims to echo the internationalization and diversity of Hong Kong and applaud local and mainland performers. About 60 people from low-income families of the Neighborhood Advice Association were specially invited to participate in the concert, which provided them with the opportunity to experience art performances, and at the same time promoted cultural exchanges and integration between the two places.

We advocated to use of AI intelligent technology for ophthalmic examinations to detect potential eye disorders in the elderly at an early stage. Symptoms such as dry eyes, blurred vision, watery eyes, and floaters may be early signs of cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, or age-related macular degeneration. This measure can prevent the development of eye disorders to advanced stages and provide opportunities for timely treatment.

June, 2023, we had 15 members and their family members visited Dong Ao Elementary School of Nam Ao Village, Yilan Taiwan. The school was transformed into an experimental education school in 2016. There are 50 students in the school, mostly Atayal. In the past, aboriginal students could only receive general education. After the implementation of the Acts of Experimental Education, the school designed a series of courses following the tribal cultural context with the original intention of respecting the cultural subjectivity of aboriginal people, not only inheriting the cultural heritage of aboriginal people, but also to provide students of indigenous ethnic groups with more diverse learning options.

We donated NT$20,000 to Dong Ao Elementary School as support for the training and competition of the archery team.
